Emma goes travelling. #3 Italy 2012

For my holiday this year I went to Italy more specifically Sorrento in Naples. I've been there several times before and each time I visit I fall more and more in love with the place. Whenever I am in Italy I feel as if I am in a bubble of calmness and sincerity it is the one place that I have been so far that I feel as if I could sit in a bar on the street (these are very common seeing as its so damn hot) and watch the world go by and not feel as if I have wasted any time at all.

The hotel we have stayed at for the past twice we have been here is called Hotel Grand De La Ville and despite it being extremely expensive the staff and the food and pretty much everything about it is completely amazing and therefore makes it one of my most favourite hotels that I've been to.

Mount Vesuvius which fun fact I actually climbed up when I was younger, definitely an experience I wont forget. This was also taken from my balcony so that shows you how much of a fantastic spot the hotel is in, you are in the town centre but still far enough away to feel as if you're in another world completely.

These next few pictures are from Capri which is certainly the bluest place I've ever been to. You are surrounded by history and beautiful scenery constantly. However, if you wanted to shop in Capri get ready to get your check book out because the prices of things are astronomical! For example I was looking at a plain white t-shirt and they wanted 500 euros for it!!!

These next few pictures are from Monte Casino. This was a part of Italy that I had never been to before and so we decided to take a day trip there; it is certainly a day I will never forget and it stick pungently out in my mind. We visited the war memorial graveyard that house the brave men who risked their lives for the sake of our own. More than 16000 soldiers from World War I and over 107000 from World War II, overall 32 nations are buried here. Many of the graves had messages from friends and family, some had "here lies the body of an unknown solider" which is the most horrific thing to think about that despite them bravely fighting and dying they are unnamed and un-mourned over, there were also grave of those who were only 16 years old which is only a few months older than myself. This experience moved me to the point where I truly think about it most days, and if you ever get to visit it please do because it is truly remarkable and it makes you count your blessings that you are safe and away from war.

Emma goes travelling. #2 Egypt 2010

Today I am going to show you some pictures from Egypt in 2010. Egypt is the hottest place I have ever been to in my life the heat was unreal and it probably wasn't the best time to go in the middle of August either but the holiday itself was enjoyable. I am not going to lie and say that it was my favourite holiday because for me I don't like to sit down all day doing nothing and this is primarily what you could do in Egypt because it was just too hot for anything else, even the sand was too hot to do anything in because it would just crumble, you had to permanently wear shoes or else your feet would burn, but none the less I still am super glad I went as it was an experience I would never forget.

On the last day it was all too hot for me so I decided to go and sit in the wardrobe(?) in my clothes to come home in and I fell asleep and my lovely brother took the evidence of it.

 

The best part of the holiday for me was seeing the pyramids and the Sphinx.

Our hotel was pretty fab though, it was absolutely massive and even at the end of the two week I still ended up getting lost several times, which made for good photo opportunities but apart from that it was pretty strange

We went on sand buggies and rode camels which is the single most terrifying thing I've ever done in my life.

So despite the heat I was able to cross some things off my bucket list and see one of the seven wonders of the world, which is what makes this holiday a very special one.

Emma goes travelling. #1 Florida 2009

Over my lifetime I have been on some amazing holidays, and for that I will never be more thankful to my parents for. I've seen some of the most amazing sights in the world, tasted the strangest delicacies, met some completely crazy but amazing people and enjoy the warmest of climates. Due to travelling some place different every year it has increased my love and will for wanting to travel the world. Even my discomfort at flying cannot stop me I love to see what the world has to offer. 

So over the next three days I am going to show you my most recent holidays and show you some of my favourite pictures from them, so excuse the sometimes shoddy picture work but it was taken before we had a really decent camera.

2009- Florida, Orlando Disney World

Its always great finding a bit of home when you're abroad, this is exactly what my dad found and due to his love for Cardiff City I'm pretty sure this is his favourite photo from the trip.

I'm not sure why this has gone the wrong way around but I'm not sure how to change it

The thought of finally getting to see this after seeing it being built does make me want to do a little weep of joy

Epcot's firework show is amazing.

So there is a little snapshot from my trip to Disney 4 years ago, looking through these pictures is only increasing my excitement to go back there this year! I swear I just get more and more like a child as I get older and long may it continue! 

This holiday is definitely my favourite holiday as of yet, who knows when it will change.
