Billy and Me- Giovanna Fletcher book review!

Last Friday (May 23rd) saw the debut novel from Giovanna Fletcher hit book stores. Giovanna is married to Tom Fletcher from McFly and has a brother (Mario) who stars in British scripted reality television show The Only Way is Essex. Despite Giovanna trained in the profession of acting, even attending young theatre school Sylvia Young (where she also met her husband, Tom) she has tried her hand at writing a novel. It has obviously generated a lot of celebrity support but not without reason.

I downloaded the book on publication day on my Kindle and immediately started reading, all pretences of revision down the drain: I knew right from the first sentence that I would enjoy the book.

The novel is from Sophie May's perspective as she meets the man of her dreams when he pops into the small tea shop where she works; this character is of course Billy Buskin. An actor who turns up unexpectedly in the small village named Rosefont Hill, filming for an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. The book goes through Sophie's present, future and her very traumatic past; she loses loved ones and gains a love. Although as with any chickflick book which this undoubtedly is; it is not an easy ride and Sophie has many bumps and turns along the way. The novel explores the ups and downs of dating a person in the public eye: which I'm sure Giovanna is in the perfect position to get an accurate representation of this considering she has been with Tom Fletcher throughout his rise to fame with the band. This gives the book a very personal feel to it and in short helps you to get more connected to Sophie and what she is feeling.

This book is an extremely easy read and you can quite easily finish it in several hours once you get sucked it. It is well written and flows nicely; it's not a ground breaking hard-hitting novel: but then I don't suppose that was its purpose. I have recommended my mother and my nan to read it as I know this will be right up their alley. If you know anyone who enjoys reading books from Milly Johnson or Sophie Kinsella then get them to read this book immediately as they all follow a similar style of writing. It is emotional, happy, sad and makes you feel good at the end: a perfect summer read. Giovanna has proved herself in the literacy world and I for one can't wait until her next book.

McFly at the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena!

Yesterday not only did I have my last official day of year eleven (which was amazing) but I went to see McFly!! It was such an incredible day!

James Bourne!

The Vamps

It was absolutely amazing, seriously if you ever get the opportunity to go and see them do it! You will not regret it!

Heres a video that I compiled together, excuse the crappy audio its seems my hand was over the microphone so the fact that you can still here the screams just tells you how loud it was and shocking filming because everyone was jumping and waving their hands about.

*video coming soon*

All written and co-written by Mcfly with James Bourne Jason Perry, Julian Emery, Daniel Carter, Freddie Mercury, Ben Sargeant.
Favourite songs on the album: The Heart Never Lies, All About You, Five Colours in Her Hair and Obviously- 2003 demo.
Least favourite songs on the album: Party Girl, Friday Night and Do Watcha.

Although the only new song on here is Love is Easy, this album is a must have for all fans of the band. It is great to listen to in the car because the songs are catchy and you always find yourself belting out the songs with your foot frantically tapping along with the beat. Would certainly recommend to anyone who enjoys well written, fun and slightly silly songs written and preformed by an extremely charismatic quartet.

New books make me happy

Nothing makes Emma a happier camper than getting new books; here are a few of the recent ones that I have brought.

My kindle is on the top because I purchased The Life of Pi - Yann Martel on there for a bargain price of 20p! I'm really hoping that it meets up to the hype.
The most recent purchase was The Knife of Never Letting Go - Patrick Ness, which is a part of a trilogy called Chaos Walking, I really, really hope this book is good as I've wanted to read it for absolutely ages.
Next, is the incredibly hyped about The Fault in Our Stars - John Green I have actually read this already so expect a full review on it soon! Click here to read my thoughts!
A random purchase is Fated - Alyson Noel I have no idea what it's going to be like as I have never heard of the author or the book before but it looks like a really interesting story.
This was a spur of the moment buy Night School - C J Daughtery and I'm not sure I'm entirely happy that I got it because after reading the first two chapters I can tell it’s going to be written in a way that adults who really have no clue what teenagers talk like write a book trying to relate to us, even though, I will give it the benefit of the doubt before casting my final judgement.
I actually have the first in the quartet of these books but I've not quite finished it, but I am really enjoying it so I have already brought the second one called Pretties - Scott Westerfeld, I hope it's as good as the first one!
Finally, this last book is not even mine, I have borrowed it from my friend Molly but it is the McFly - Unsaid Things... Our Story, I'm only about a quarter of the way through it but I love McFly so if you are a fan then this is the perfect book for you.
