The reaction that occurs from celebrities deaths

Over the weekend Cory Monteith sadly passed away at the age of 31 and obviously the internet is up in arms over it: quite rightly so as well, at least in my opinion.

The issue I want to discuss today is the whole issue over it all being everyone talks about for the next few weeks and then for the most part people forget about it. The whole "no one cared about them when they were alive so why does everyone care about them now that they are dead" comment that always arrises in these situations. It happened with Amy Winehouse, it happened with Michael Jackson, it happened with Whitney Houston and it will continue to happen. The comment that 'no one cared about them when they were alive" is rubbish because of course people cared about said person or else they wouldn't have been famous in the first place. Just because people don't wither on about the person does not mean to say that they didn't like them or didn't care about them. Either way even if they actually couldn't care less about them before they are being respectful by sending on their prayers and well wishes to the family.

The next comment that you often see in these times of a celebrities death are "people die every day and no one cares about that". Well yes obviously people die every day but chances are they never impacted as many lives as said celebrity did, through no fault of their own, they just never got the chance to, whereas these celebrities have had the chance. When a relative or friend dies would you really want to be in the position of the celebrities family and friends? Having to deal with paparazzi and news harassing you when all you want to do is grieve your loss? Having everyone in the world who has an internet connection knowing all about the death of your loved one? I don't think so.

So maybe, just maybe, it is a blessing that not everyone gets the same recognition as celebrities when they die, because at least then you can come to terms with your loss without the whole world watching you.
